Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra vs S25 Ultra: Flagship features compared
● Processor: Galaxy S26 Ultra gets faster Snapdragon performance
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, which reaches a maximum clock speed of 4.47GHz. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra upgrades to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, with a higher clock speed of 4.74 GHz.
Samsung claims the Galaxy S26 Ultra offers 19% faster CPU performance, 24% better graphics and 39% improved AI processing. These gains may benefit demanding games, video editing and on-device AI tasks. For everyday browsing, messaging and streaming, the Galaxy S25 Ultra still has capable hardware.
● Battery: Same capacity but faster charging on the Galaxy S26 Ultra
Both smartphones have a 5,000mAh battery, so the Galaxy S26 Ultra does not increase battery capacity. Its advantage is faster charging: wired charging rises from 45W on the Galaxy S25 Ultra to 60W on the newer model. This can reduce time spent plugged in, but does not by itself establish longer battery life.
Wireless charging also increases from 15W to 25W. Samsung claims the Galaxy S26 Ultra can reach about 75% charge in 30 minutes with a compatible adapter, making quick top-ups easier.
● Display: Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces built-in Privacy Display
Both phones feature a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The main display-related addition is the built-in Privacy Display.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra adds a Privacy Display that limits screen visibility from side angles. This helps keep messages, notifications, and sensitive information private when travelling or using the phone in crowded places.
● Cameras: Galaxy S26 Ultra improves low-light photography
Both phones feature a 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide lens, and 3x and 5x telephoto cameras. However, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra gets a wider f/1.4 main aperture, compared to f/1.7 on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Samsung claims 47% brighter results from the main camera and a 37% improvement from the 5x telephoto lens. The wider aperture can let more light reach the main camera sensor, which may help in dim scenes. Samsung also claims improvements to the 5x telephoto camera, noise reduction and video stabilisation.
● Design: Galaxy S26 Ultra gets slimmer and lighter
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has a strong titanium frame, weighs 218g, and measures 8.2mm thick. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra switches to Armor Aluminum, reducing its weight to 214g and thickness to 7.9mm.
Titanium offers high strength and rigidity, while Samsung’s Armor Aluminum protects the phone’s edges and internal components without adding much weight. Both feature Gorilla Armor 2 screen protection and IP68 water and dust resistance, making them durable choices for everyday use.
● Software: Galaxy S26 Ultra brings smarter Galaxy AI features
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra launched with Android 15-based One UI 7, offering Galaxy AI features such as Now Brief, Circle to Search, and Audio Eraser. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces Android 16-based One UI 8.5 with more proactive AI tools.
Its Now Nudge feature can suggest relevant photos or recognise meeting details in messages, helping users complete everyday tasks with fewer steps.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra vs S25 Ultra: Is it time to upgrade?
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra brings useful improvements in performance, photography, charging, and privacy. However, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra remains a capable flagship for users who do not need the latest features.
- Choose the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: If gaming, low-light photography, video creation, or handling sensitive information are regular priorities.
- Choose the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: If everyday productivity, entertainment, and photography at a lower price are priorities.
