Babita Kumari, is an Indian female wrestler. She is also the sister of the India’s first gold medalist wrestler, Geeta Phogat. Her father Mahavir Singh Phogat, is also a wrestler and a proud recipient of Dronacharya Award. Her sister Ritu Phogat and Sangita Phogat, including their cousin Vinesh Phogat, are wrestlers as well. Her father is her mentor in wrestling.

Career:

In 2009, she won Gold medal in Woman freestyle wresting, in 51 kg category, held in Jalandhar, Punjab. She also won Silver medal in Commonwealth games in 2010 under the same category. In 2011, she won gold medal in a tournament held in Melbourne, Australia. In 2012, World Wrestling Championship, she was able to bag a bronze medal by defeating Zamira Rakhmanova from Russia. In 2013, she won bronze medal in Asian Wrestling championship. In 2014 Commonwealth games, she won a gold medal by beating ‘Brittanee Laverdure’. She also secured bronze medal in 2015 Asian games.
