Kulbhushan Sudhir Yadav, also known as Hussain Mubarak Patel, is an Indian citizen arrested in Pakistan, on charges of terrorism and spying for the ‘Research and Analysis wing’ intelligence agency. Formerly, he was a naval officer under Government of India, however, it has denied any connection of him with the Government. He was being sentenced to death on April 10, 2017.
Career:
He joined Indian National Defence Academy in 1987 and was working with Engineering branch in Indian Navy, from 1991. After ‘Parliament Attack’, he started gathering information within India. He was launched into Intelligence operation, in the year 2003 and established a small business in Chabahar, Iran.
Kulbhushan Yadav’s Arrest:
Yadav, was arrested on the charges of Illegal Entry into Pakistan via Iran, on March 3, 2016, however, Pakistan government revealed his arrest on March 24, 2016. They believed him to be involoved in subversive activities in Balochistan and Karachi. They accused him of being a Spy from India’s Research and Analysis Wing. He was detained on March 21 and later shifted to Islamabad for questioning.
Pakistani authorities stated that during Yadav’s interrogation he has revealed information regarding the funding and plans to destabilize the country. In addition to that, they have also stated that he has revealed information about other anti-national bodies present in the southern metropolis. The Pakistani officials has also stated that, he has assumed false identity and was working under cover.
Official from India has stated that, he got arrested in the Intelligence Bureau of Pakistan, since after 14 years of stay period he became a bit complacent. And added that, his phone was on surveillance and his habit of speaking to his family in Marathi, has blown up the cover.
