Leila Seth, is the Honourable Judge, who has served as the Judge in the Delhi High Court and Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. She has the honour of becoming the first woman, to be serving in those posts. She was also the first woman to clear the London Bar Exam, in the year 1958 and following which, she also cleared the IAS exam.

Career:In the year 1958, she cleared the London Bar Exam and joined the Bar in 1959, following this, she has also became an IAS graduate, by clearing the exam, in 1959. Later, in India, she joined as a junior to ‘Ashoke Kumar Sen’, where she handled a Tax related issues, Civil and Criminal cases. During his absence, she has practised from the Central Cabinet of India.
Later, in 1978, she was made the Judge of Delhi High Court, which made her the first woman to serve as the Judge in the High Court. Following this, in the year 1991, she was made the 8th Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court and again she became the first woman to be in that post. She is also a well known writer.
Recently, on May 5, 2017, she passed away in her home, due to cardio-respiratory attack. Since she has donated her organs, she did not wish to have a funeral, after she passed away.
