Nassar is an Indian film actor, director and producer, whose work is mainly concentrated on South Indian Film Industry. He was born in Baticalo, Sri Lanka. He did his schooling in Chengalpattu and later moved to Chennai to continue his studies in college. In college, he was an active member of the Dramatic society. For brief time, he worked in Indian Air Force. He has also taken training in two acting schools. At present, he is the President of ‘Nadigar Sangam’.

Career:

Nassar made his acting debut in one of the famous and renowned director K.Balachander’s movie ‘Kalyana Agathigal’, in which he played supporting actor. After which, he started playing villainous roles in S.P.Muthuraman’s Velaikaran and Vanna Kanavugal. He had a breakthrough after his role as police officer in Mani Ratnam’s movie ‘Nayagan’. After this role, he became a regular cast member in both Mani Ratnam’s and Kamal Haasan’s movies like Roja, Thevar Magan, Bombay and Kuruthipunal.

Nassar made his directorial debut through ‘Avatharam’, which describes the difficulties faced by folk art troops. This movie was critically acclaimed, even though it failed to become a commercial hit. Following this, he directed ‘Devathai’ a film about reincarnation. He also stated that his busy schedule cost him a role in one of the famous movie ‘Lagaan’. He continued his acting career in 1990’s and starred in Jeans, Minsara Kanavu, Iruvar etc. Nassar usually plays villain or character roles. He has also starred in the blockbuster movie Baahubali: The Beginning, playing handicapped father of Bhallala Deva.
