Pinarayi Vijayan is the Chief Minister of Kerala. He sworn–in as 12th Chief Minister of Kerala on 25th May, 2016. He is one of the active politbureau members of Communist Party of India (Marxist). Pinarayi Vijayan entered into the politics during his college days. Vijayan had served the state well as Electricity Minister and had implemented many new projects.
Career
Pinarayi Vijayan struggled at his young age, being born into poor toddy tapper’s family. He had to work for his family after completing his schooling. But he continued his studies and completed his degree education. During college, he joined Communist party and started working for Kerala Student’s Federation, Democratic state Youth Federation, and Kerala State Co-operative Banks. He was actively participating in the student union activities since 1964. He became CPI(M) politburo member in year 2002. Pinarayi got elected to the Kerala legislative Assembly for in year 1970, 1977, 1991 and 1996. He had involved in few controversies and it shows that controversies are part of CM Vijayan’s lifestyle.
