Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin, is an Indian Politician and better known in the name M.K.Stalin. He is from Tamil Nadu and working president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party. He was the Mayor of Chennai from 1996 to 2002 and served as Deputy Chief Minister from 2009 to 2011. He was the third son, born to Karunanidhi and his second wife, Dayalu Ammal. He was named Deputy Chief minister by Governor Surjit Singh Barnala. Recently, he was named as his heir in politics by Karunanidhi, thus ending the long time confusion.
Career:
He made his debut in politics, at the age of 14, he campaigned in the year 1964. In 1973, he was selected by the General Committee of DMK. He became a well-known personality, when he was jailed for protesting against Emergency under MISA. He has been selected for four times in Tamil Nadu assembly since 1989 and he was the directly elected Mayor of Chennai. He was elected as Mayor for the second time in 2001, however that time CM J.Jayalalitha enacted the Tamil Nadu Municipal laws, which prevents a person from holding two elected posts in Government.
