Narayanan Krishnan, is an Indian Chef, who turned into a Social Worker. He has been an award-winning chef at Taj Hotels and was short-listed for an elite job in Switzerland. He began his social work, after noticing a distressing incident in the year 2002. He is now feeding the homeless and mentally disabled in his home town.

Career:Narayanan Krishnan, was brought up in a comfortable environment, where his father earned quite well to satisfy all his needs even from childhood. He was very passionate about cooking and his mother inspired him to continue his dream. He was working at the five star hotel ‘Taj’ in Bangalore and was an award-winning chef.
He was short-listed for an elite job in Switzerland and he visited his home town, Madurai, before leaving to take up the new job. When he was at his home town, he saw a poor man, who out of hunger was literally eating his own human waste. Narayanan, was shocked to see such an incident and offered the old man ‘Idli’ from the nearby shop. He saw the happiness in the old man’s face and that when he made his life changing decision.
Akshaya Trust:
Narayanan, quit his job as Chef and rejected his job offer from Switzerland and founded Akshaya Trust, in the year 2003. The main motive of this trust is to help homeless and mentally-disabled people in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. He serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to 425 indigent and elderly people in Madurai. He has been rated as one of the Top 10 in ‘CNN heroes 2010’ list.
